WRAP #129: The Thousand Rep Rule
Hey Reader, I hope you had a great week. Today we have a big newsletter milestone and a lesson about sticking with it (maybe for 10+ years) and a couple shout-outs to friends who are making cool content that I know you'll like.
Thanks as always for reading, let's get started!

π‘ The Big Idea
Thousand Rep Rule
I logged into ConvertKit this week to write the newsletter you're reading now, when I noticed last week's WRAP was published broadcast #1,000.
I've been writing on ConvertKit since 2015, so 1000 broadcasts over 9 years is just over 100 emails sent per year, or 2 per week on average. But that first newsletter was sent to 113 people that I had migrated from Aweber β and brick by brick, email by email, the newsletter kept going for 9 years.
Honestly, I didn't notice the milestone was coming up, but it is a big one. It's even more impactful for me because I've written about the 10-100-1000 rep rule in the past. I wrote about YouTuber MKBHD's first 100 videos and having 76 subscribers at the time, then hitting 1000 videos published and over 10 million subscribers. There's an undeniable connection.
I don't have 10 million subscribers, but I do have a career, a reputation, a great network of friends, and library of content I'm proud of. But it's a matter of sticking with it, focusing on your craft, and helping people (with a bit of entertainment thrown in).
1000 pieces of content feels like a lot, but all you need to do is start with 10 pieces, then build to 100, and keep going. See you in 10 years π

ποΈ A Podcast to Listen to
Good Work with Barrett Brooks
My friend and former ConvertKit teammate, Barrett Brooks, is launching a new podcast next week.
Barrett is one of the most thoughtful, insightful people I know. I always leave conversations with him feeling listened to, cared for, and smarter. I'm really glad he has a podcast, and I think you'll like it too.
The first guest is James Clear (have ya heard of him, lad?!) and the episode drops on Tuesday, April 9th.

π A Video to Watch
The SECRET First Step to a Successful Creator Biz
My friend, co-worker, and podcast co-host Tim Forkin just launched a new YouTube channel this week and you should check it out. His first video is about how the first step as a creator is having a simple one-page site, i.e. landing page for people to find you on the internet. Then make content. Repeat one thousand times. Congrats, you made it! |

Mighty Networks: Your Ultimate Community Partner
|
I just started inviting new members into the Father Fire community and we're having a great time in Mighty Networks. It has all the features you would expect from a community platform, like spaces for posts, chats, and the ability to go live. But my favorite little feature are the AI-driven polls and questions.
By telling Mighty what our community is about, it generates daily questions that help keep us connected without relying on me to come up with something clever. It's a game-changer!
If you're a person building community with others over a common vision or goal (like being a great dad) β then check out Mighty Networks and see what they can do to support your mission.
