πŸ’‘ The Big Idea

The Last 10%

Like I said at the top, there's a personal challenge I've become obsessed with in 2024. It's the "last 10%" of personal growth.

This might sound arrogant, but I do a lot of life really well. I've built up my habits, work, finances, health, family life to be in the top 90% (comparing polls, surveys, census data).

But. What does it look like to cover the last 10%?

What does it look like in my daily disciplines and actions to take the next step personally, professionally, physically, and financially? Because even though life is good, I know I can go up a level (and need to).

That 90% benchmark has become my new normal. I can be at this level without stretching myself too much. There are still the normal every day challenges that come with raising kids, strengthening a marriage, staying fit, and running a business, but it feels more like autopilot than growth right now.

That's why I want to challenge myself to grow 10% in the next 100 days.

Personal

πŸ“š Reading the Bible and philosophy daily
⏰ Protect time and attention around family

Financial

πŸ‘€ Daily review of spending & savings progress
🀩 Building the "dream life budget" with my wife

Physical

🍦 Limit or eliminate sugar & alcohol
πŸ’ͺ Increase protein to 1 gram = 1 lb

Professional

πŸ”Ž Focus on high-leverage tasks
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ« Be a world class expert for the HeyCreator team

It's encouraging to know there are only a couple tweaks in each area that can help me get to that last 10% of what I can do myself. This isn't in comparison to anyone else, this is just me being the best me I can be.

But I also know these are the "final bosses" (for now) of my own limits. They are tasks, routines, and disciplines that I've been good at but not great.

For the next 100 days I'm making it my mission to cover that last 10% and see how it changes my life.

Don't miss this πŸ““

Bullet Journal Stealth Set

Ya'll - I mean come on! An all-black Bullet Journal?! This limited run is black on black on black. Ok, the pages are still white, but the gilding is black, the pen is black. It looks so dope. I don't even need a Bullet Journal right now and I'm getting this one. Click here or the button to get yours (no affiliate, just a fan).

βœ… To-Do Tactic

The Hard Habit List

I talk about this a bit in the new YouTube video below around the 2:30ish minute mark β€” part of the challenge in the last 10% is identifying the "hard habits" that are keeping me stuck.

For example, I've been tracking workouts, reading, and journaling for years. Those aren't hard for me anymore. I've established the habit and built confidence. But tracking money, meditating, and drinking less alcohol are things that aren't as easy for me. Those are the hard habits (throw in less sugar too).

I think these hard habits β€” being aware of their impact and staying attentive to them each day β€” are the tipping point of getting to the next level of my own development.

What are your hard habits? Reply to this email and I'll get back to a few of you with my thoughts, or at least encouragement!

March Plan with Me

In this month's plan with me I went over my minimalist 2-column setup. You'll see I also moved my "hard habit tracker" over to the date page and gave a whole page to the daily highlight. Read more about the concept of the daily highlight from my friends at Make Time.

Mighty Networks: Your Ultimate Community Partner

I've known about Mighty Networks for a number of years and got used to the platform being a part of BuJo U and Jack Butcher's communities. My wife also loves the Yoga with Adrienne community. So I was stoked to meet the Founder, Gina Bianchini, at the ConvertKit podcast show in LA. I'm going to develop the Digital Dad community with Mighty Networks, and if you're interested in building community you should check out Mighty too!
