How Conferences Changed My Life & Career

Published 3 months ago • 2 min read

Hey Reader, there’s a good chance you’ve seen me talk about the HeyCreator Summit that’s happening next week. It’s 20 speakers over 5 days and the lineup is tremendous. I wanted to tell you a bit more about how events like this have made a impact on me.

Creative conferences have transformed my life and career. Events like Craft + Commerce and World Domination Summit were game-changers for me. Some of you attended Tribe Conference back in the day, and it was at the 2015 Tribe where I had a chance meetup with Bryan Harris who introduced me to Nathan Barry, who hired me at ConvertKit a month later. WILD.

As incredible as in-person conferences are, they still have very real time and financial costs. It’s a big commitment (though worth it imo). The HeyCreator Summit is 100% FREE and virtual, so you can attend from anywhere and learn from the top creators in the world. It starts this Monday, January 22, and all you have to do to save your spot is click the button below.

Seriously, if you saw this lineup at any conference it would be a must-attend-no-doubt event, but it’s freely available to everyone who signs up 🎟️

Here’s a look at who is speaking…

  • Justin Welsh
  • Rachel Rodgers
  • Nathan Barry
  • Amanda Goetz
  • Justin Moore
  • Jay Clouse
  • Soli Cayetano
  • Pat Flynn
  • Ryder Carroll
  • and many more!

All of these people, and thousands more (literally) are coming together in a week to help you make 2024 the best year ever as a creator. I hope to see you there!

What’s next for the Million Dollar Newsletter

As you’ve noticed, MDN has been sporadic these last few months. It’s certainly not best practice for a weekly newsletter, but the inspiration for these emails has always been to share helpful and strategic practices for your newsletter and/or course. In fact the first subscribers of MDN were my clients and a handful of mastermind friends, and the early content was me sharing one helpful tactic I had discussed with a client to everyone on the list.

By the way, that’s a great way to start your own newsletter, weekly or not. What are you sharing with people individually that should be shared publicly?

The other reason for the sporadic content is because the Million Dollar Newsletter is being merged into the bigger HeyCreator brand! I guess you could say it was sold/acquired, but the reality is not as exciting as that (though if I post about it on Twitter I will make it sound very dramatic and important).

What this means, and you heard it here first, is that HeyCreator is much more than a one-week summit. It’s a newsletter, a podcast, a membership community that I’ll be telling you more about in the coming weeks. The good news is that I’ll have more time to focus on content and community, bringing you consistent newsletters and podcasts to guide your journey as a creator.

One thing you can do to get ahead of this is to add hello@heycreator.com to your email contacts and whitelist any messages from that address. It’s the new email I’ll be sending from once the transition happens.

I’ll still continue to send my To-Do’s Day and WRAP newsletters, so don’t worry! My personal writing and YouTube content isn’t going anywhere. In fact there’s MORE you can expect from me in 2024. But it all starts with the HeyCreator Summit next week.

I hope to see you there!

Matt
